Thom Madjerec had a special relationship with South Shore Vo-Tech,
especially with the athletic program. There are not many individuals
who showed the continued level of enthusiasm for South Shore Sports
that he showed. A group of Thom’s friends and family have decided they
want to continue this special relationship by creating a scholarship
at South Shore in his memory. The scholarship is governed entirely by
South Shore Vo-Tech and donations/questions should be directed to the
school.

2005 Scholarship Winners:
Julie Davis - Bright, capable student who played basketball
all four years. She was in our Health Careers shop and is now studying
nursing at Fitchburg State College.
Tim Sullivan - another all-around athlete, played basketball and
football. Tim is studying Architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
He was in our Drafting department.
2004 Scholarship Winners:
Laura Rockett graduated from our Drafting program -all around
athlete - played basketball all of her years, captain in her senior
year. She also played softball. She is at Worcester Polytechnic Institute
majoring in Engineering.
Dan Kenneally graduated from Electronics - played basketball
all his years. He was valedictorian of his class and now is in the US
Coast Guard.
2003 Scholarship Winners:
Tracy Murphy graduated from the Drafting department. She ia
an exceptional athlete, being named to the league All-Star team for
two years in both basketball and softball. Tracy served as Captain of
both teams. She lives in Whitman an will be attending Massasoit Community
College in the fall. She plans to paticipate in both of her sports in
college.
William Sylvester graduated from our Carpentry department.
He is an outstanding athlete and a leader on and off the field of play.
Bill was voted Catain of the basketball team and was a league All-Star
in both football and basketball. He was an integral part of our championship
Superbowl team. Bill will be attending Massasiot Community Collge and
will be playing basketball at the college level.
2002 Scholarship Winners:
Amy Grubbs, daughter of Kris and Eric Grubbs of Whitman, graduated
from the Culinary Arts program in the Class of 2002. Amy was number
12 in her class of 115 and has consistently maintained honor roll status
throughout her four years. Amy played several sports including volleyball
and basketball. For the volleyball team, Amy excelled at team play.
She played basketball all four years, making the varsity team her last
three years and was selected to the All-star roster in her Junior and
Senior years. As a point guard, Amy was the team high scorer and Captain.
Amy's leadership on and off the court made her an outstanding student.
Amy will be continuing her education at Massasoit Community College
in Brockton where she hopes to play basketball.
Joshua Bleicken, son of Lee and Doug Bleicken of Marshfield,
graduated from the HVAC department. Josh came to SSVT in his sophomore
year and immediately became an impact player in all aspects of the school
community and graduated in the top third of his class. Aside from being
a good school citizen, Josh played three sports. He played offensive
guard and linebacker this season helping get the Vikings to the Super
Bowl. As team captain, his dedication and leadership were outstanding.
On the hockey team, Josh was a wingman for 3 years. He was the catcher
and Captain of the baseball team as well. He is going to continue his
education at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he hopes to play
at least two collegiate sports.
